Khalistan Goons Tear Indian Flag In Melbourne; Diaspora Chants ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ | India Today

A pro-Khalistan group attempted to disrupt India’s Independence Day flag hoisting ceremony at the Indian consulate in Melbourne, Australia. The group gathered at the consulate in St. Kilda Victoria, where they tried to intimidate members of the Indian diaspora. Yogesh Bhatt, president of the Vivekananda Society, who was present at the event, stated, “The visuals were disturbing at that time and the Khalistani protesters they were just at the doorstep…and they were tearing down the Indian flag.” In response, the Indian community present at the celebration countered the disruption by chanting “Bharat Mata Ki Jai,” drowning out the protesting mob. The incident was described as an attempt by a gang of goons to intimidate the Indian diaspora, with the community being commended for not allowing the situation to escalate into a violent confrontation.
