Halloween
Halloween is an annual holiday celebrated on October 31st, rooted in the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, now widely observed through costumes, trick-or-treating, and themes of the supernatural.
Halloween's origins trace to the Celtic festival of Samhain, celebrated over 2,000 years ago in Ireland, Britain, and northern France, marking the end of harvest season and a time when the boundary between the living and spirit worlds was believed to blur.
The holiday later merged with Christian traditions, particularly All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day, and was brought to North America largely by Irish and Scottish immigrants in the 19th century.
Modern Halloween celebrations, particularly popular in the United States, Canada, and increasingly worldwide, center on costumes, carved pumpkins, and the tradition of trick-or-treating, in which children go door-to-door collecting candy.
