In June 2026, Elon Musk became the first person ever to be worth more than $1 trillion, after his rocket company SpaceX went public. According to Forbes' Real-Time Billionaires list, the top 10 are worth roughly $2.95 trillion combined as of July 1, 2026. Here's who they are, what they're worth, and how they made their money.

Note: Net worth figures are based on Forbes real-time estimates as of July 1, 2026, and change daily with the stock market.

His fortune jumped by an estimated $218 billion in a single month after SpaceX went public. Quick facts about the 2026 list

Nine of the ten richest people are Americans — the only exception is France's Bernard Arnault. Technology dominates the list, powering seven of the top ten fortunes. The richest woman in the world, Alice Walton (heir to the Walmart fortune), ranks 16th overall with about $121 billion. And 2026 marked the first time in 33 years that Microsoft cofounder Bill Gates fell out of the top 10.

How is net worth calculated?

A person's net worth is their total assets (company shares, real estate, cash, and investments) minus their debts. Because so much of these fortunes is tied up in company stock, the numbers rise and fall every day with the markets — which is why the exact figures and rankings can shift from week to week.

GlobalNewsX presents this as factual reporting based on publicly available data. Figures are estimates from Forbes' Real-Time Billionaires list as of July 1, 2026.
