JAMESTOWN SETTLEMENT — Live music, local art, and a relaxed social atmosphere will take center stage this month as Jamestown Settlement will host the Thursday Evening Music Series on Feb. 12, 19, and 26.
The Thursday Evening Music Series offers guests the opportunity to listen to live music, socialize, enjoy a drink at the cash bar, and view artwork on exhibit during the annual Black Artist Showcase.
Sammy Lee will perform Feb. 12 at 6:30 p.m. Rooted in blues tradition, Lee’s music is cadence-driven and acoustically inclined, showcasing Motown folk through energetic performances. With more than a decade of vocal experience, his baritone highlights lyrical vulnerability and a wide vocal range.
Roberta Lea will take the stage Feb. 19 at 6:30 p.m. An award-winning singer-songwriter, Lea’s live performance has been described as “country-neo-pop” with a “delicious, folky flair.” A touring member of The Black Opry, she is also part of CMT’s Next Women of Country Class of 2023 and a voting member of The Recording Academy, with a dynamic range spanning country, folk, and Americana.
The series concludes Feb. 26 at 6:30 p.m. with Akeylah Simone of Hampton Roads. Simone records and performs across multiple genres, fusing Neo-Soul Rock, R&B, pop and jazz. Her performances feature personal, poetic writing paired with soulful vocals.
