Whether you have a Valentine’s Day date this weekend or not, there’s plenty to do in Milwaukee this weekend.

You can catch some inspiration for your upcoming home projects at the NARI Spring Home Improvement Show or renew your wedding vows with a beer in hand at Lakefront Brewery. Or you could experience the award-winning percussion show that turns everyday items into instruments, and pick up some new koozies at Milwaukee Record’s Great Milwaukee Can Koozie Swap & Bar Chip Bonanza.

February 13-14: All Messed Up XIV

Every year, Milwaukee musicians and non-musicians alike gather at Linneman’s Riverwest Inn to be split into random groups tasked with forming a new band and performing at a two-day showcase. All Messed Up XIV will bring sixteen random bands to the stage, featuring names like Al Gore Rhythm, Top Half Fish, Cannibal Sand Witches and more. Each night will begin at 7 p.m. and will feature a different lineup. Admission to each show is $5.

February 13-15: NARI Spring Home Improvement Show

It’s almost time for some spring cleaning and home improvement projects. And if you’re looking for a little bit of inspiration and guidance, the NARI Spring Home Improvement Show has got you covered. Over 150 home improvement and remodeling experts will be present at the Wisconsin State Fair Exposition Center and guests can participate in live presentations and raffles. Check out the Interior Design Portfolio Contest, where MIAD students show off their great room and outdoor living concepts and explore the Backyard Oasis, an area of the show that features a hot tub, fire feature, expansive multi-level deck and more. The show will run from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit the NARI Milwaukee website.

February 14: Valentine’s Day at Lakefront Brewery

Love is in the air at Lakefront Brewery, where guests can tie the knot with a special wedding ceremony or renew their vows, all while drinking an award-winning Milwaukee beer. While reservations for the ceremonies and private vow renewals are now closed, guests can still hang out and enjoy the good vibes and participate in mass vow renewals at 12 p.m. or 6 p.m. followed by a “first dance” for all couples interested in participating. The brewery is also offering a special menu for two that includes two beverages, two side salads, two entrees and red velvet cheese curds for dessert. For more information, visit the Lakefront Brewery website.

February 14: ‘STOMP’

You don’t need a fancy guitar or grand piano to make music – sometimes all you need is a trashcan or broom. Stomp is a percussion showcase that turns everyday objects into musical instruments. The eight-person ensemble will utilize anything from Zippo lighters to hubcaps in this electric performance that’s been winning awards for decades. The Marcus Performing Arts Center will host two performances – at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit the Marcus Performing Arts Center’s website.

February 12-16: Disney on Ice

Experience the magical worlds of Disney classics Frozen and Encanto in a whole new way at Disney on Ice at the Fiserv Forum. Characters such as Elsa and Mirabel will be joined by other Disney favorites such as Mickey Mouse and Goofy as they take to the ice to sing iconic tunes and perform breathtaking acrobatics. The show will begin with the story of Frozen and end with Encanto, giving families the chance to experience these inspiring stories back-to-back in a captivating new format. Disney on Ice will run from Thursday to Monday with varying start times. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit the Fiserv Forum’s website.

February 14: The Great Milwaukee Can Koozie Swap & Bar Chip Bonanza

If you live in Milwaukee and, like most Milwaukeeans, enjoy drinking beer, there’s a pretty good chance you probably have at least one koozie in your house. Thanks to the folks over at Milwaukee Record, there’s now an event that allows koozie enthusiasts to trade, sell and show off their collections. The event will run at Club Garibaldi from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and will run specials on Lakefront Brewery beer. Guests can also bring in bar chips – such as the tokens you get at Lakefront Brewery when you take a tour – and cash them in for a chance at winning prizes. The Great Milwaukee Can Koozie Swap & Bar Chip Bonanza is free to attend.
