The ASICS Los Angeles Marathon will be here before we know it. Here’s everything you need to know about the world-renowned race coming to LA next month.
Los Angeles Marathon date, start time, course
- The Los Angeles Marathon is on Sunday, March 8. More than 25,000 participants are expected to run the sold-out race.
- The race starts at 7 a.m. from Dodger Stadium. Runners have 6 hours and 30 minutes to complete the course from when the last person crosses the start line.
- The 26.2-mile course goes through some of LA’s most recognizable neighborhoods and landmarks, including Little Tokyo, Capitol Records Tower, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Grauman’s Chinese Theater, Chateau Marmont, Rodeo Drive, Chinatown, Sunset Strip and Beverly Hills.
- Entertainment along the route will include “cheer zones,” plus performances by DJs, dragon dancers, drummers and more.
- The finish line is at Santa Monica Boulevard and Avenue of the Stars in Century City. Spectators are welcome to join the festival at the finish line.
NBC4 and Telemundo 52 were named the new broadcasting partners of the ASICS Los Angeles Marathon this year, and the partnership will continue through at least 2029. Expect lots of coverage from the marathon across our platforms, in both English and Spanish.
Road closures
- Here’s a list of freeway ramp closures during the marathon., including ramps along parts of north and southbound U.S. route 101 and Interstate 405. Some closures begin as early as 3 a.m. on Sunday, March 8.
- Here’s a list of street closures during the marathon; most closures begin at 4 a.m. on Sunday, March 8.
- This map of marathon-related road closures will be finalized one week before the marathon.
Spectator parking
Organizers suggest spectators park at pre-paid lots like Westfield Century City, 1999 Avenue of the Stars, or 10250 Constellation. Follow all “no parking” signs in neighborhoods around the race route.
At least 3,000 students showed up at Hansen Dam to run the annual Students Run LA Friendship Run in hopes to qualify for the Los Angeles Marathon next month. Annette Arreola reports for NBC4 at 7 a.m. on Feb. 16, 2025.

In addition to the Los Angeles Marathon, these events are happening throughout race weekend:
- Expo & Bib Pick-up | Friday, March 6, 10 a.m.-7 p.m., and Saturday, March 7, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. | Dodger Stadium, Lot G | This lifestyle expo is free and open to the public, and will feature up to 100 exhibitors.
- LA 5K | Saturday, March 7, 8 a.m. | This run starts and ends at Dodger Stadium.
- LA Kids Run | Saturday, March 7, 9:45 a.m. | Dodger Stadium | This ½-km run is designed for mini marathon runners ages 3-8.
- Charity Half Marathon | Sunday, March 8, 8:15 a.m. | Dodger Stadium | This 13.7-mile course will feature participants running for The McCourt Foundation’s Team TMF or another official charity partner.
