Arlington-based REV Entertainment buys two independent professional baseball teams

Date:

Arlington-based REV Entertainment, the official sports and entertainment partner of the Texas Rangers, today announced it has purchased two independent professional baseball teams: The Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and the Schaumburg (Illinois) Boomers of the Frontier League.

The purchases expand REV Entertainment’s team ownership portfolio, which also includes the Cleburne Railroaders and Kane County (Geneva, Ill.) Cougars, both of which play in the American Association of Professional Baseball.

REV Entertainment’s Sports Management division will oversee business operations for the teams, saying it will focus on preserving each team’s identity, bolstering community relationships and creating opportunities for innovation.

Sean Decker, President of REV Entertainment, said in a statement that both the Ducks and Boomers have a “strong track record of success on the field and deep roots in their communities. Our goal is to build upon that foundation by enhancing the fan experience, supporting our local partners and positioning each franchise for long-term growth and sustainability.”

Launched by the Rangers in August 2021, REV Entertainment serves as the exclusive booking agent for Globe Life Field and Choctaw Stadium, overseeing all non-Rangers event bookings, including concerts, college baseball and other events. Beyond its events business, the company also generates non-baseball revenue through its sports management (franchise ownership and venue management) and sports marketing (partnership sales) divisions.

The Ducks, who have competed in the Atlantic League since 2000, are the only professional baseball team in suburban Long Island. They are the all-time leader in wins and attendance in Atlantic League history, have led all MLB Partner League teams in total attendance for five consecutive seasons, and have sold out a record 721 games all-time.

The Boomers, who joined the Frontier League in 2012, have won four Frontier League titles (2013, 2014, 2017, 2021). They led the league in attendance every season since their first season, and have been named the league’s organization of the year five times.

REV Entertainment has four divisions: REV Events, REV Production Services, REV Sports Management, and REV Sports Marketing. These units are focused on driving revenue, booking venues, generating development, operating professional sports franchises and venue management.
