Popular rock band postpones tour due to frontman’s health battle and fans are praying

Date:

Fans have been sending prayers to Jon Fratelli after his group, The Fratellis, announced he was battling a health issue.

Fratelli’s health issues were cited by the band in a social media post announcing that its Costello Music 20th Anniversary tour is being postponed.

“Unfortunately, Jon (Fratelli) is unable to perform right now due to ongoing health issues,” a statement from the band on Instagram read. “With the tour so close it breaks our musical hearts to take the decision but in light of medical advice that Jone takes time to recover it’s the only sensible option.

“Not long after The Fratellis were born (end of 2004/beginning of 2005 depending on who you argue with) we were faced with a far more serious medical obstacle that should have ended our dream there & then,” the statement continued. “The thing is we just point blank (expletive) refused to accept that we couldn’t do what we’d set out to do. We were going where we were going. End Of. With a wee bit of time we’ll do now what we did then … whatever it takes to get back onstage as quickly as possible, playing music for anyone who loves our things as much as we do.”

The band added that in the statement that it was “blown away by the reaction” to the tour and promised that “we are as disappointed as you at having to wait a little longer to celebrate Costello Music’s 20th Birthday.”

“We’ll do everything possible to announce the new dates ASAP,” the statement continued. “With the postponement of the tour we’re even more excited at the prospect of seeing many of you at our summer festival dates … they really can’t come quickly enough. We love you all.”

Fans were quick to send love.

“Darling Jon, hope you are well soon; we love & miss you all so much,” one person replied.

“Love from the US!” another wrote. “Was coming from DC to London but I’m praying for your recovery.”

“I’m more gutted for you than for myself,” another replied. “I wish you a speedy and full recovery and look forward to the new dates.”

“Gutted but health has to come first,” another wrote. “Wishing Jon all the best and a speedy recovery.”

There were plenty more comments like that and you can see them as well as The Fratellis’ post here.

“Costello Music” was the Scottish band’s debut album in 2006. IT reached number two on the UK Albums Chart and spent 83 weeks on the UK Top 100 charts. It reached No. 48 on the US Billboard 200.
