Jeff Bezos is an American entrepreneur who founded Amazon in 1994 as an online bookstore, growing it into one of the world's largest and most valuable companies spanning e-commerce, cloud computing, and more.
Bezos founded Amazon out of his garage in Seattle in 1994, initially selling books online before expanding the company's offerings to nearly every product category imaginable over the following decades.
Under his leadership, Amazon Web Services (AWS), launched in 2006, became a dominant force in cloud computing infrastructure, providing a significant portion of the company's profits alongside its retail operations.
Bezos stepped down as Amazon's CEO in 2021 to focus on other ventures, including his aerospace company Blue Origin, which aims to develop reusable rockets and expand commercial access to space.
