Mass. location recreated in popular video game

Date:

A Massachusetts location has been recreated in a popular video game.

Villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons on Nintendo Switch can now visit a virtual Thomas Crane Public Library from Quincy. The library has recreated its historic spaces on a virtual island using the in-game address of DA-7820-3076-6238.

“On the island, you can visit the historic Richardson Building and Aiken Ell, a rendition of the Olmsted Lawn, the Cranium Makerspace, and the Teen and Children’s rooms,” a press release states.

The video game is a cozy life-simulation where players focus on relaxation rather than competition that was originally released in March 2020. Players can design the island’s layout, create homes, chat with villagers and fish. It’s part of the long‑running Animal Crossing series.

A Nintendo online membership is required to visit the island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Other recreations in the game have included the “Love Island” villa, Singapore’s Sentosa island, iconic scenes from Disney’s “Encanto” and “Hamilton’s” first act.
