EXCELSIOR SPRINGS, Mo. — Slightly Off Broadway Theatre is preparing to bring laughs, suspense, and audience participation to the stage this month with its upcoming production of A Fate Worse Than Death, a family-friendly melodrama opening Friday, March 13.
The production promises all the classic elements of melodrama fun, giving audience members the chance to boo the villain, cheer for the hero, and root for the fair maiden as the story unfolds. Theater organizers say the show is designed to be an interactive experience for all ages, making it a lively outing for families and community members alike.
As the plot twists and turns, audiences will be left wondering whether the villain will make off with both the money and the girl, or whether the hero can avoid a fate worse than death. The only way to find out, organizers say, is to join in on the fun at the theater.
The cast features performers from Excelsior Springs and surrounding communities, including Tim Schmidt as Rodney Ramsgate, Sally Jones as Felecia Ramsgate, Skyla Booth as Dorothea Ramsgate, Dustin Danner as Joe, John Clark as Cassius Carstairs, Natalie Sinnett as Carlotta Flower, Grayden Crawford as Burgess Lendahand, Onyx Smith as Slick Carter, Emily Meehan as Clarice/Ada and Kaycee Speiser as Marie, Maisie and Jenny.
