2026 is definitely a packed year for K-pop fans as YG Entertainment has just announced a packed lineup of releases and highly anticipated tours by some of the greatest 5th generation, 4th generation, and 2nd generation K-pop bands of our time. As of 3 March, they released a YouTube video with YG Entertainment’s CEO and founder Yang Hyun Suk detailing all the exciting announcements upcoming in the year.
BABYMONSTER 2026 plans
The video begins with BABYMONSTER’s plans for 2026. Their most recent release was their second mini album WE GO UP that came out in October 2025. In the video, Yang Hyun Suk proceeds to announce that the septet will be releasing their third mini album CHOOM in early May. He describes the album as having a slight edge and coolness to it, describing it as “a BABYMONSTER album you’ve never heard before”. He also states that the title track ‘CHOOM‘ will be taking the spot as the first pre-album single as he teases a second single that will follow its release.
Following the mini album announcement, the video also promises that a full length album by BABYMONSTER is in the works. Yang Hyun Suk shares that he aims for it to be released in October of 2026, marking a debut album release by the group.
Another standout announcement is BABYMONSTER’s World Tour 2026. Since their performances in LA and Newark one year post debut, this second world tour is an exciting announcement for MONSTIEZ worldwide. The tour is said to kick off in June as the group performs beyond just North America this time as they visit South America, Europe, and Australia (Oceania), marking the biggest world tour that the iconic band has ever embarked on.
TREASURE 2026 plans
Yang Hyun Suk shares an anecdote teasing the sound for TREASURE‘s album saying, “One day the TREASURE members came to me and said, ‘We’d like to do a hip hop album.’ I was so surprised and was like, ‘hip hop? All of a sudden?'”. As he reveals that the upcoming album will be a more hip hop centric sound, the release of the album also marks the start of the second act for the band. He also states that the refreshing sound that infuses multi-genre elements into the record will definitely give fans a new perspective on the vast musical capabilities of TREASURE, beyond just your usual K-pop boy band.
He also goes on to reveal that TREASURE will be going on a world tour at the beginning of next year after the release of the hip hop album and the conclusion of 2025-26 TREASURE TOUR [PULSE ON]. Another exciting endeavour is that T5 activities will continue and HYUN.HA.YO will also be debuting under a new name as well.
BIGBANG 20th Anniversary
Being one of the biggest exports from YG and having made a huge impact on the K-pop scene in the past two decades, fans have been looking forward to the comeback and anniversary celebrations by BIGBANG. While news of T.O.P choosing to focus on his solo career instead of participating in the group’s comeback has come as a surprise, fans are looking forward to G-DRAGON, Daesung, and Taeyang as they take over Coachella 2026 with one of the most iconic comeback performances ever.
Yang Hyun Suk also announces that BIGBANG will hold a massive global tour that is sure to send VIPs into an exhilarating uproar as their favourites perform their greatest hits and beloved fan favourites in a city near them.
Other exciting endeavours
In the video, the founder also hints to BLACKPINK‘s upcoming 10 year anniversary, however no plans or details were revealed as of the time the video premiered. YG is in the works as they gear up to debut a new boyband in Fall of 2026, as well as the 2 remaining members joining quartet girl group NEXT MONSTER (working title) that already comprises members EVELLI and CHANYA. These two new additions to the YG family signal a new chapter for the company and for K-pop as a new generation of artists are set to emerge in 2026.
