2026 FIFA World Cup: First four nations book their spot

The identity of the 48 teams taking part at the 2026 FIFA World Cup tournament are beginning to emerge.

Japan were the first nation outside of the hosts Canada, United States, and Mexico to secure their place. Iran qualified from the Asian confederation.

New Zealand breezed through as expected, while South American side Argentina will return to defend their 2022 winners title.
