Johor bomb detonation exercise triggers landslide, 2 police officers in ICU
A bomb detonation exercise went awry in the Johor district of Kluang on Tuesday (Aug 27), triggering a landslide that seriously injured two police officers.
According to the New Straits Times, the incident happened at a housing area in Taman Sri Lambak at about 3pm.
The policemen were rescued and admitted to the intensive care unit of a nearby hospital. They reportedly sustained serious injuries such as a broken hip and internal bleeding.
Harian Metro named the victims, both from the bomb disposal unit, as Corporal Abd Halim Zainal and Corporal Muhammad Faruuqi Shamsary.
Johor police chief M Kumar confirmed the incident and said an official statement would be released soon.
