Belgium, Italy, France: Travel strikes planned for September

Strikes are a regular occurrence in Europe, as employees withhold their labour to fight for better pay and conditions.
Walkouts are sometimes planned months ahead but others are announced last minute, showing that it always pays to check before you travel.

Belgium: National strike hits Brussels
Public transport in Brussels will be hit by industrial action on 16 September.
A national strike could impact the Belgian capital’s metro, trains and buses, with reduced services on some lines.
A rally is set to leave North train station at 10.30am, travelling towards Place du Luxembourg. Strikers are walking out in solidarity with workers at Audi’s Brussels factory, which faces closure.
It comes after South Charleroi Airport was disrupted by a strike on Thursday.
France: easyJet workers file indefinite strike notice
French staff at budget airline easyJet have filed an indefinite strike notice starting on 16 September. It is in protest over the company’s plan to close its Toulouse hub.
Exact dates for walk outs are yet to be announced, but strike action could hit easyJet operations across the country in the coming days and weeks.
Portugal: Lisbon transport strike in September
Public transport workers at Carris, which operates Lisbon‘s buses, trams and funiculars, plan to walk out on 18 September.
The strike is expected to begin at 10pm the night before and end at midnight, unless it is called off following talks with the transport operator.
Minimum services for disabled people, safety and emergency services will still run.
Italy: Nationwide public transport strike
Public transport passengers in Italy may face delays and cancellations on 20 September as a 24-hour strike takes place.
Staff at bus, tram and commuter train operators around the country plan to walk out over pay and working conditions.
