American Coco Gauff is this year’s champion of the French Open. In the Roland Garros final, she defeated Aryna Sobolenko of Belarus in three sets.

The incredibly hard-fought first game, which lasted 1 hour and 17 minutes, was won by the world number one on a tie-break – 7:6. In the second set, the American tennis player restored the balance – 6:2. The third game was also dominated by Gauff and ended 6:4.

It was the 11th meeting between Sobolenko and Gauff, with the American taking the lead in the previously equal tally of face-to-face confrontations.

For the American tennis player this Grand Slam trophy is the second of her career. In 2023, she defeated Sobolenko in the final of the U.S. Open.

This year’s final in Paris was the first time a world number one and number two had met here since 2013, when Serena Williams defeated Maria Sharapova, and only the third such duel in the last 30 years.
