Greece migrant boat sinking: 9 held on suspicion of smuggling, hope dims for survivors – France 24

The search continues off the coast of the Peloponnese, on the southern tip of the Greek mainland for hundreds of people missing feared dead after a packed fishing boat sank on Wednesday morning. The bodies of 78 people have been recovered and 104 have been been rescued. Greek authorities have since arrested 9 of the survivors, suspected of being part of a smuggling ring. FRANCE 24’s correspondent Nathalie Savaricas reports from the port city of Kalamata, where the rescue operation is based.
