As Russia’s Vladivostok prepares to welcome North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, residents of the city feel divided about potential cooperation between Russia and North Korea. “For me, it can only be a bonus for the development of our country,” says Alina. However, for Piotr Ignachev, collaboration is “unlikely”. “It’s a big exaggeration to say there are great prospects with North Korea,” he says. Kim began his official visit to Russia on September 13 with a meeting with President Vladimir Putin, where he called for closer ties between the two countries.
