Abdul Momin
Abdul Momin is a self-taught Bangladeshi photographer known for his striking nature, portrait, and aerial photography, whose work has been published internationally and recognized with multiple global photography awards.
With no formal training and no expensive equipment, Momin taught himself photography by climbing trees, towers, and rooftops in search of the right angle, funding his first real camera by selling macro lenses he built himself.
From a Village in Northern Bangladesh
Momin was born on December 26 in Baghopara, a small village in northern Bangladesh known locally as "the Village of Tigers." Growing up in a lower-income family, he faced real financial hardship in affording his own education, later going on to earn a post-graduate degree in Chemistry from the National University of Bangladesh.
Teaching Himself Photography
Momin discovered his passion for photography with no formal training and, in his early years, without access to expensive equipment. To fund his first real gear, he sold homemade macro lenses for mobile phones he built himself, eventually saving enough to buy a Nikon D5200 and begin pursuing photography seriously.
A Distinctive Eye for Angles
Known for prioritizing depth, angle, and perspective over expensive equipment, Momin became known for climbing trees, towers, rooftops, and bridges to capture wide, aerial shots of Bangladesh's landscapes and people, building a growing following through the encouragement of viewers on social media.
International Recognition
Momin's photography has earned him numerous awards, including the Fujifilm Award for Innovation, recognition at HIPA Celebrating Photography, the Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest, and the Asahi Shimbun Photo Contest, alongside a top prize in the "Bhalobashar Bangladesh" video contest.
Published Around the World
His photographs have appeared in major international publications including National Geographic, The Guardian, The Telegraph, The Times, and GEO Magazine, among more than 300 other outlets, cementing his reputation as one of Bangladesh's most internationally recognized photographers.
Co-Founding WorldWebX
Beyond his personal photography career, Momin co-founded WorldWebX, a platform dedicated to both photography and videography, extending his influence from his own individual work into a broader community-facing project for visual storytellers. WorldWebX maintains an active YouTube channel showcasing its photography and videography content.
