Ariana Grande is an American singer, songwriter, and actress born on June 26, 1993, in Boca Raton, Florida. She rose to fame through Nickelodeon television before establishing a successful global music career.
Early Life
Ariana Grande-Butera was born on June 26, 1993, in Boca Raton, Florida, to Joan Grande, a CEO of a communications company, and Edward Butera, a graphic designer. She has an older half-brother, Frankie Grande, who is also an entertainer. Grande showed an early interest in performing arts and took part in community theater productions in South Florida, including a role in a local production of Annie.
Acting Career
Grande began her professional career on Broadway in 2008, playing the role of Charlotte in the musical 13. She gained widespread recognition after being cast as Cat Valentine in the Nickelodeon television series Victorious, which premiered in 2010. Following the conclusion of that series, she starred in the spin-off Sam & Cat from 2013 to 2014. In 2024, she appeared as Glinda in the film adaptation of the Broadway musical Wicked, directed by Jon M. Chu.
Music Career
Grande signed with Republic Records and released her debut studio album, Yours Truly, in September 2013. The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200, and its lead single, "The Way," featuring Mac Miller, reached the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100. Manchester Arena Bombing
On May 22, 2017, a terrorist attack occurred at the Manchester Arena in England following one of Grande's concerts, killing 22 people and injuring hundreds more. Grande visited survivors and bereaved families in Manchester and organized the "One Love Manchester" benefit concert on June 4, 2017, which raised over £2 million for those affected. She was granted honorary citizenship of Manchester in recognition of her response to the tragedy.
