London
London is the capital of the United Kingdom, a global city with nearly two thousand years of history, from its founding as the Roman settlement of Londinium to its role as a modern financial and cultural capital.
Founded by the Romans around 43 CE, London grew steadily through the medieval period and became the capital of the British Empire, once the largest empire in world history, giving it enormous global influence in trade, governance, and culture.
