Alongside Georges Braque, Picasso developed Cubism in the early 20th century, a revolutionary style that depicted subjects from multiple perspectives simultaneously, fracturing traditional visual representation.
His 1937 painting Guernica, created in response to the bombing of a Basque town during the Spanish Civil War, remains one of the most powerful anti-war artworks ever made. Picasso produced an estimated 50,000 artworks across painting, sculpture, and ceramics over his lifetime.
