Mafia: The Old Country Leaks Online Before Game Awards Reveal
Mafia: The Old Country was to have its first big reveal Thursday during The Game Awards show, but it appears a clip of the planned trailer made its way online. The short video shows a bit of the action as well as the game’s release date.
The leaked trailer began circulating early Thursday, showing 12 seconds of what appears to be in-game cinematics rather than gameplay. At the end of the clip, the summer 2025 release date is revealed, which makes for some interesting timing since the parent company of publisher 2K Games, Take-Two Interactive, is set to release GTA VI in the fall of 2025.
2K Games didn’t comment on the leak, but the company did post on X about the game on Thursday afternoon.
“There’s much more to the story… Omerta will be broken tonight at #TheGameAwards,” the post said.
While the trailer doesn’t show off any of the gameplay, it does confirm the game’s time period, which is 1900s Sicily. That’s evident with the turn-of-the-century weaponry and horses.
Mafia: The Old Country was first shown at Gamescom in August. Hanger 13 will develop the game for 2K Games and will release it for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series consoles. The Old Country will be the fourth game in the Mafia franchise, which started in 2002.
