Fur seals do visit Brazil, but prefer colder waters at this time of year. Rescuers and firefighters set up a security perimeter around the sea lion.
The animal also attracted the attention of researchers, as these mammals are often seen along the Brazilian coast in winter and spring in the southern hemisphere, but rarely at this time of year.
