South Korean singer Park Bo-ram, known for Reply 1988 song, dies at 30
South Korean singer Park Bo-ram has died at the age of 30 on Thursday (Apr 11), confirmed her agency Xanadu Entertainment in a statement.
Several news outlets reported that Park was drinking with two of her friends at one of their houses when she went to the bathroom.Β When she did not come out, her friends checked on her and found her unconscious around 9:55pm (South Korean time).Β Park was taken to the hospital but died around 11:17pm.
“All of our fellow artists and employees at Xanadu Entertainment are deeply mourning the deceased with great sadness. It is even more heartbreaking to deliver sudden news to fans who support Park Bo-ram,β said the agency.
Xanadu Entertainment added that funeral procedures will be held after consulting her family, and urged the public to refrain from making speculative reports.
The police said an autopsy will be held Saturday (Apr 13) to determine the cause of death, and investigation into her death is ongoing, reported South Korean media, Korea JoongAng Daily.
The singer gained recognition after appearing on the Mnet audition show Superstar K2 in 2010, and made her official debut with the song Beautiful in 2014.
Some of her songs include Sorry, Celepretty and Dynamic Love. Notably, she was also in the OST for the 2015 K-drama Reply 1988 with the songΒ Hyehwadong (Or Ssangmundong).
Before her death, she had reportedly been preparing for her comeback to commemorate the 10th anniversary of her debut.
