The Cure are back soon, with the legendary British gloom rockers releasing their first studio album in 16 years on 1 November.

While fans bide their time until the release of ‘Songs Of A Lost World’, they do well to start bidding, as The Cure frontman Robert Smith is auctioning off some signed new artwork to raise money for Heart Research UK.

The charity organisation funds medical research in to the prevention, treatment and cure of heart disease.

Smith announced on Instagram: “I HAVE SIGNED A4 & A3 PRINTS OF FOUR OF MY ARTWORKS – ‘ALONE’, ‘AND NOTHING IS FOREVER’, ‘ENDSONG’ & ‘”IT’S JUST THE WAY I SMILE” YOU SAID…’ TO RAISE FUNDS FOR @heartresearchuk.”

Three of the four pieces (‘Alone’, ‘And Nothing Is Forever’ and ‘Endsong’) are inspired by the band’s upcoming album – their first since 2008’s ‘4:13 Dream’ – and were made for the Heart Research UK project.

The fourth artwork,‘”It’s Just The Way I Smile” You Said’ was created in 2021 and is a portrait inspired by the lyrics of the band’s 1989 track ‘Plainsong’.

All prints are signed by Smith.

Bids are currently open, with proceeds going to Heart Research UK. At the time of writing, bids stand at between £250 (€298) and £497 (€593). Considering the auction ends on 13 October, you can expect those prices to rise.

‘Songs Of A Lost World’ drops on 1 November, with the lead single ‘Alone’ having been shared by the band last month.

The Cure has toured in the years since ‘4:13 Dream’, and has been teasing new music for a while now. In 2019, Smith told Rolling Stone that the band had recorded 19 tracks, ranging from 10-12 minutes long, and wanted to release a new album on Halloween of that year…

We’re still waiting. But not for long now…
