Spanish authorities have intercepted over 50 kilograms of cocaine concealed in a lorry bound for the UK, Madrid’s national police confirmed on Thursday. The bust, valued at €1.5 million, led to the arrest of four key suspects linked to an organised crime network smuggling drugs across Europe.
The investigation began after police identified a lorry frequenting an industrial estate in Móstoles, where the gang allegedly stored illegal substances. Officers tracked the vehicle’s movements and set up a checkpoint along its intended route. The lorry was stopped while the driver and two others were taking a break at a rest stop. Upon searching, authorities uncovered the hidden narcotics, leading to three immediate arrests.
The next day, a fourth suspect — the owner of the warehouse facility — was also detained. With these arrests, police claim they have dismantled a major operational hub of the criminal organisation, striking a major blow against drug trafficking networks.
