The awarding of the Honorary Doctorate in Social Sciences and Statistics to His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain took place at the legendary Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, in the presence of the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella.

The event was part of the celebrations to mark the 800th anniversary of the Federico II University.
