Asylum applications have kept on increasing, Syrians are the most in demand

The number of asylum requests in the EU has increased by almost 30 percent, according to official figures released on Tuesday. According to the European Union Agency for Asylum, 519,000 migrants lodged asylum applications in the EU and associated countries Switzerland and Norway. Many countries are already under pressure following a surge in requests in 2022, with several hosting around 4 million Ukrainians who fled following Russia’s invasion.
