Werner Heisenberg
Werner Heisenberg was a German physicist best known for formulating the uncertainty principle, a foundational concept in quantum mechanics stating limits on how precisely certain physical properties can be known simultaneously.
Heisenberg developed matrix mechanics in 1925, one of the first complete formulations of quantum mechanics, working alongside physicists including Niels Bohr and Max Born at the forefront of the emerging field.
In 1927, he introduced the uncertainty principle, which states that the position and momentum of a particle cannot both be precisely measured simultaneously, a concept that fundamentally challenged classical physics.
Heisenberg was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1932, and his wartime role leading Nazi Germany's nuclear research program remains a subject of significant historical scrutiny and debate.
